Retro

My brother's been converting old family slides into digital photos.  Most are from the late 1950's and early 1960's, telling the story of two high school sweethearts who fell in love and married at eighteen.

This 1957 Chevy was my Dad's pride and joy.  The horn had an unusual sound and we'd beg him to flip the toggle switch over and over again.

At twenty-three, my parents purchased their first home.  They had two children and one on the way.  It was a three bedroom house with one bathroom.  The purchase price was $16,000.00.

My sister and I shared this room for quite a few years.  I don't recall it looking like this :: by middle school the walls were covered with photos of John Travolta (remember Tiger Beat magazine?).

My mom loved this galley-style kitchen.  Notice the Dixie cup dispenser.  Does anyone have those anymore?

The basement walls were paneled (no insulation) and the floor was linoleum tile.  Oh how I'd love to have that retro-pink kitchen set now.

My dad built this doll house and it was fully furnished courtesy of Aunt Clara.

Sharing a cup of percolated coffee at the chrome dinette set.  I'd love to have that too.

  1. We had the same linoleum tile in the basement of our 1960 house. The slides converted nicely to digital. The color and clarity are very good. It's so nice to have a bit of family history in images. Enjoy!
