It's The Simple Things

The girls were here today, working on some wedding projects.  It's so refreshing to be in their company and absorb the excitement that surrounds them.  Pure joy.

They always come in through the garage and I leave a note on the chalkboard to welcome them.  It's the first thing they look for when they step foot in the door and happy chatter about the message follows.  Today was no exception.  It's the simple things.

We made menu cards, assembly-line style.  There was cutting and measuring and making sure the placement was just right.  We talked about dresses and shoes and three different flavors of cake.  There was mention of manicures and pedicures (French and otherwise) and who will be sitting with whom.  Before we knew it we were oohing and aahing over a completed pile of handmade menus.  It's the simple things.

This bride has put her heart and soul into every last detail, planning the wedding of her dreams.  There've been some bumps in the road but she's come out shining, letting her character carry her through.  "Only twenty-six days" we kept repeating today.  "Can you believe it will be here in twenty-six days?"  As they left this afternoon the girls turned and said, "I hope we can think of more crafts to do after the wedding is over."  Well now, apparently these two know exactly how to make me smile because if there's one thing I know for sure......it's the simple things.
