That's what we've been doing.
Hubby and I have been off since Christmas Eve. No work, no major household projects, no obligations. And it's been very nice.
It's not often that we relax. In fact, we chuckle about how much seating we have in the house and how little we sit. Hubby works long hours and when he's not working we're usually diving into some kind of home improvement adventure. It's what we do. We've been doing it for years.
But this little home vacation was different. We sat a lot. And we dined out a few times. We visited with friends and family. I fiddled around in my sewing room, organizing fabric and tidying things up for a fresh start to the new year.
We cooked a little, and spent some time browsing in our favorite bookstore. We had breakfast yesterday morning with our son, and took a brisk walk in the park today.
We watched two movies, one in the theater and one snuggled in the comfort of our home (my favorite way to watch a movie). And I knitted.
It's a wonderful thing :: this relaxing and recharging. It's new to us but I do believe we did it quite well. I think we may be on to something.
I agree with you. It's good to just sit and relax for a few days but then I am ready to get back to work. Time to start a new project.
ReplyDeleteChristmas holidays are too rushed to enjoy. I am envious. R,R & R would be divine. The few peeks into your home are intriguing. Your posts about the garden first caught my eye last summer. I'd love to see more of your house. Best wishes for the new year!
ReplyDeleteThat torta looks much easier than the one I tried a few years ago. How was it?

Patti - so you like projects too?? :)
ReplyDeleteCotehele - I have some ideas for including more peeks into my home in future posts. Stay tuned.
Cindy - I liked the torta recipe very much but I'm a little biased since I'm crazy about pesto. I used basil pesto from COSTCO, Bella Sun Luci brand sun dried tomato pesto, and homemade roasted garlic. Next time I may add a little more roasted garlic.
